Mayor Marty - He Has My Vote!
Contributed by: Bonnie Watson on 9/29/2007

I have known Marty Wisniewski for about 17 years, and since I have known him I have seen him involved in the community. He has coached sports, led the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and in the latest years he has led the community as a Councilmember in Ward 3.

Marty has a wealth of experience in LEADING and that is why I am supporting Mayor Marty in the November election. Leadership is a learned trait and he is ready to take on the challenge of uniting our city and bringing the city council together.

He has a vision of what he wants Thornton to look like in the future and that is a whole city, not a city split by economics and age. Marty is excited about the older areas of Thornton that are being revitalized and will continue to back projects that bring new life to these areas. Educating our students and citizens is another priority of Mayor Marty. He wants to see trade schools and colleges come to the city so our students both young and old have options for their continued education.

Uniting Thornton, revitalizing the city, and education are issues that important to me and that is why come November I will be casting my vote for Mayor Marty. I would hope that other people who are concerned about the future of Thornton would also listen to Marty's vision for our city and voice their concerns to Marty. Mayor Marty is the best person to lead Thornton because of his experience and his leadership skills.

Hankins has twisted all the facts he most likely received from Rebecca. First of all, the vote was should Marty be acting Mayor versus appointed Mayor. Marty voted against acting mayor because he feels Thornton needs true leadership, a real appointed Mayor, not an acting Mayor. The other Councilmembers voted to have Marty as acting Mayor because they were afraid to run against another incumbent. Marty IS the MAYOR PRO-TEM and when there is no Mayor that makes ANY Mayor Pro-Tem the Mayor. Marty stepped up to perform all the duties of Mayor on top of his full-time job and Council duties despite of some the Councilmembers’ selfish negative vote. Becky was thinking of herself not the city then, so why would she put the city first now? No one else stepped up. Marty has more experience and leadership skills than the self-employed housecleaner who leads by intimidation and threats. He leads by example and his past shows his commitment to Thornton and his ability to lead.

On a side note, Marty also deeply cares about education. When Marty is elected Mayor, I recommend that AJ Hankins look into taking some spelling classes.

Let us not forget that when asked to take over the responsibilities of Mayor after Noel busk left that Marty voted no. No. He voted NOT to make him the acting mayor. He either didn't want it or he was more interested in have the title Mayor (which he gave to himself even though HE"S NOT THE MAYOR .. quit foling yourself Marty). He's not the Mayor. That is not leadership. Becky Cavanaugh-Miller is my choice. ther's more leadership in her little finger than in all of Marty.
