Harvestfest Success!!!
Contributed by: Marty Wisniewski on 9/10/2007

This weekend at the Harvestfest I had the incredible opportunity to meet numerous people and I enjoyed speaking with everyone I met.

I was a little late to the Harvestfest because I was speaking at the Sun Enterprises Block Party sponsored by Sun Enterprises, but I was excited the amount of support I already had when I arrived in the mid-morning. I saw numerous blue Mayor Marty balloons, people wearing Mayor Marty stickers, and a group of people gathered around my booth as soon as I arrived. I was ready to get down to business and talk to the people about their concerns and suggestions for the City of Thornton.

I feel that it is essential to speak with the citizens about their needs and wants in order to make Thornton an even better place to live and work. Many of the people I talked to expressed their concern about other candidates saying one thing to them about an issue and then saying another thing to their friends and family. It is actions like that that create distrust between elected officials and the people of Thornton. I can assure you that I will never say one thing to one person and another thing to another person just to obtain a vote. I believe that my ideas for Thornton reflect the wants and needs of the people of Thornton, so I will standby all of my platforms and remain clear on what I will bring to the City of Thornton. I will continue to attend events like the Harvestfest and talk with the people of Thornton to make sure I will provide them with what is needed and wanted.

I have always said that I want to build a city for all citizens and I think it is events like the Harvestfest that bring people from the north and south together. Every person I talked with had their own unique story to tell, but the one thing they all had in common is that they loved the idea of large community events like the Harvestfest. I would like to see more large scale events that can bring all the citizens of Thornton together more often. Moreover, I would like to see event participation for all age groups. I believe this will help build a city designed for all people.

I would like thank everyone that came to Harvestfest and spent time with me. I really enjoy talking to the citizens, after all that is what it is all about isn't it? There was a wonderful turn out and it was great fun for me to take a day off the rigors of campaigning to see everyone. Thank you again for making my day.

I met you at HarvestFest. Well, actually, I saw you sitting behind your table. I was really looking forward to chatting with you, but you seemed to busy talking with the other candidates sitting behind your booth when I came up. I met your two opponents, Rebecca and the other man on city council, and they didn't seem to mind that I wanted to talk. Let's get the story straight. I know this column was meant to paint a rosie picture for you, but I think you need to take off your glasses. Next time, try actually talking to people who approach you.

Yes, I know what you mean when you say Citizens of Thornton deserve honesty and integrity. Thanks for leading by example Marty.
