Found to produce reliable results by revealing underlying order in what appears to be chaos concerning high-order mental arithmetic while talking about a completely different subject.

~ The amount of growth in an established edge city that is generated by companies already located in the city: 85 %

~ The farthest distance an American will willingly walk before getting in a car: 600 feet

~ The most remote parking space is rarely more than 300 feet from the entrance.

~ How many storiesup ordown an American will use the stairs: 1- frequently 0.

~ In an office environment, even if a building is only 2- stories tall, it must have an elevator.

~ Space required to meet the needs of an office worker: 4 per 1000 feet.

~ Number of riders a HEAVY RAIL system needs per day to be cost effective: 15,000.

~ How many switches in travel mode a commuter will put up with: Usually, no more than 1. Typically, zero.

~ How much space is required to park the car of an office worker: 400 square feet.

~ The prime location consideration when a company moves: The commute of the CEO must become shorter.

~ You name a place for what is no longer there as a result of development.

~ The maximum desirable commute, throughout human history, regardless of transportation technology: 45 minutes.

~ The function of glass elevators is to make women feel safe.

~ A parking lot may not have pitch more than 6 % . A car door will be difficult to open or close, and may be a liability with ice.

3 LAWS OF BUILDING: (1) Build. (2) Build at the lowest possible cost. (3) If rule #1 and #2 come into conflict, rule #1 takes precedence.

Adequate storm drainage allowances; a 3 % grade assures good drainage into catch basins. A high quality of surface and seal coat should be applied over a well-compacted subgrade.
