Thornton Resident Terri Cruz Wins World Title

Terri "Lil Loca" Cruz, of Thornton, won her first pro women's boxing championship on Oct. 29 at the Sky Ute Casino in Ignacio.

Cruz defeated Heather Percival by a unanimous 10-round decision to claim the International Female Boxing Association's bantamweight title belt. The referee in charge, Stephen Blea, is an Adams County resident and former Mapleton High School grad, class of 1976. Adams County can claim fame to the home of Champions. Congratulations Terri.

Way to go Lil Loca - Thanks for reporting this victory. It is great to know about our hometown champs and I dont know where else I would have seen this story.
