COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Metro State's
Michael Bahl and
Jesse Wagstaff were named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball all-Academic first team, the conference announced Wednesday.
Bahl, who has a 3.56 grade point average as a history major, and Wagstaff, who has a 4.0 grade point average in civil engineering technology, are two of the five
student-athletes named to the first team.
Bahl, from, Thornton, is a graduate of Broomfield High School.
Patrick Hannaway of UC-Colorado Springs was the Academic Player of the Year, while Dusty Jura of Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Lewis' Tim Bieri were also named to the first team. In addition,
Daniel Bass, a computer science major, was selected to the honor roll.
On the women's side, Nebraska-Kearney's Liz Fischer was named the Academic Player of the Year, while Metro State's
Megan Johnson earned honor roll recognition with a 3.45 grade point average in criminal justice. Nebraska-Kearney had three student-athletes on the first team as Fischer, Amy Mathis and Melissa Hinkley all were named.
To be eligible for Academic all-RMAC honors, individuals must carry at least a 3.20 grade point average, be either a starter or key reserve on his or her respective teams and must have completed two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters at their RMAC institution.
This is the first year that RMAC sports information directors have selected a first and second team, in addition to the honor roll.
