Do you want to participate in the fast growing sport of dragon boat racing? The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is once again offering those who are not affiliated with a sponsoring organization the opportunity to participate in the races by becoming members of a Community Pickup Team. The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival will be held July 26 & 27 at the east side of Sloan's Lake Park (near the boat house). Grab a friend or two, and join in on a sport that is 2,000 years old! No experience is necessary, but you should be able to swim and exercise strenuously for two minutes!
The Community Pickup Teams will race in the Novice Division (ND) for adults.
To Qualify:
*Racers must be 18 years of age or older, as of July 26, 2008
*Racers must participate in training and practice sessions during July (date and time to be determined)
*Racers must be available to race Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27
For more information or to register, visit www.cdbf.org or call Tom Ging at 303.278.0304.
After the races, stick around and immerse yourself into all of the other events going on at the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival. Celebrating its 8th year, the CDBF is a free family-friendly festival highlighting Colorado's rich Asian Pacific American heritage. The two-day celebration provides a window to the Pan Asian world. This diverse festival is the only one of its kind in the United States, and showcases an array of traditional and contemporary performing arts, cultural customs, cuisine and a marketplace of unique and hard-to-find arts, crafts and vendors.
