Rachel Bollinger Signs Full Basketball Scholarship
With Trevecca University - Nashville, Tennessee
On Friday, October 23, 2009 at 12:30 PM on the campus of Horizon High School; accomplished State Basketball and All State Track & Field competitor Rachel Bollinger will secure her college bid when she signs a full basketball scholarship offering from the top ranked NAIA Div. 1 Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene University.
When asked why Trevecca as a college pick, Rachel responded; "Trevecca has everything I was looking for in a university, a recognized psychology program, a top ranked basketball program, a winning coach and a university that aligns with my faith in Christ. It's not often when everything you look for lines up; so when it does, you know it's right!"
With a long list of honors, this four year varsity veteran joins the ranks of many Horizon athletes that have taken their athletic talents well beyond the front doors of Horizon High School. Former WNBA player and Horizon High School graduate Jamie Carey had this to said about Rachel's ability, "I've had the privilege of training Rachel over the years, she
has unparalleled quickness and speed on the basketball floor. She has become one of the best defenders at Horizon High School and has a proven outside shot. She also possesses a unique work ethic that will serve her well into her future basketball career."
As Trevecca Head Coach Gary Van Atta looks forward to using Rachel's "unparalleled quickness and speed" in his future bid for the NAIA title, he'll have to wait for her to finish up her final year at Horizon High School. As one of only two seniors and at the helm this season for Horizon, Rachel was asked how she saw the 2009 State Final Four team stacking up this year. She replied, "It goes without saying, we are a young team this year, but most of us have been together all this summer and no one should under estimate the strength we have together at Horizon. It's going to be a great year!"
