DENVER -- The Thornton girls basketball team blew open a close game with a 23-7 run in the second period, going on to be Denver West 61-29 in the season opener for both schools.
Thornton's
Candice Townley led all scorers with 22 points. Teammates
Jacinda Baumann and
Kandace Sauceda had 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Rainy Santillanez led West with eight points.
Jessica Pacheco had seven points.
The Lady Trojans visit Littleton at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 and then host Westminster at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8.
Denver West visits Adams City on Dec. 5 and Englewood on Dec. 8, both at 7 p.m.
