Horizon does well in high desert classic
Contributed by: S.L. Carlsen on 7/17/2008

The Horizon high school summer baseball team took a trip down to Albuquerque, NM June 9, to play in the High Desert Classic tournament. A total of 36 teams from Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas came to play in the four day, 10th annual event. Horizon played a total of five games, with 2 wins and 3 losses. They could have had a chance to play a total of 8 games, but their last two losses ended their play in the tournament.

Horizon did very well considering how young their team is and playing against young men who have already attended college. Horizon's summer varsity team consists of upcoming Seniors, Juniors and sophomores. Head coach of Horizon baseball is Ralph Garcia with assistants Dave Schmitt and Mitch Fischbach. Watch for these boys next year for their spring baseball season. Go Hawks!
