Skyview ends regular season with win

ADAMS COUNTY -- The Skyview baseball team finished off its regular season with a 9-4 win over Skyline League rival Ranum on May 1.

The Wolverines (12-5, 10-3 Skyline League) scored six runs in the second inning and the Raiders (7-11, 5-8) never got closer than five runs the rest of the game.

Skyview's Jose Loera drove in four runs on two doubles while teammate David Cobos drove in three runs and scored twice.

Eric Hern went all seven innings for Skyview, allowing only three earned runs.

Ranum's Chris Freeman had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in a run. Teammate Kyle Norman hadone hit, run andRBI.

Skyview qualified for the Class 4A state playoffs as the No. 25 seed, finishing tied for second with Centaurus. They will play against Mountain View High School in the District 2 tournament at 10 a.m.

The winner of Mountain View and Skyview will play the winner of Golden and Canon City at 3 p.m. to more on to regionals.

Thank-you for taking the time to recognize Skyview baseball. They had an amazing turn around this year- thanx to a new coaching staff and a great team of guys with a love for the game. Keep up the good work.
