As reported first by
Christin Ayers of 7NEWS, Mosquitoes are Breeding In Flooded Creeks After Warm, Wet Weather as we just went through.
It appears that nuisance mosquitoes tend to last through the winter but do not cause west nile.
"They're floodwater mosquitoes," said
Doc Weissmann, surveillance manager at Colorado Mosquito Control. "Their eggs can last throughout the whole winter without hatching. Then the water gets warm and they get wet and the eggs hatch and the larvae appear."
The Tri-County Health Department has not release mosquito data for the Thornton area since 2007.
