I have been in the automotive business here in the north metro Denver area for more than eleven years now. It has always amazed me that the experience of buying a new car is not exciting for most people, but rather a process to be feared and dreaded. I'd like to work through this whole process step-by-step, from the first thought' "Maybe I need a new car" all the way through to the next car we start thinking about down the road. I am a former insider in the business, so I will tell you what really goes on and answer any questions to the best of my ability. What makes us start thinking about a new or replacement vehicle in the first place? Some of us just moved here from a larger city where we never needed a car of our own, so we are looking for our first car. Some are just starting to drive, maybe teenagers in high school, and their parents are buying them a first vehicle. Maybe our previous car is too small, too big, poor fuel economy, not enough seats, destroyed in an accident or just plain worn out and can't be repaired anymore. A new baby (or two or three) can trigger this change, as well as children leaving home. Longer commute, don't need to haul or tow anymore; need to start towing or hauling. Just want to help save the environment with a hybrid vehicle. Inherited a car that doesn't fit our needs, just got "car fever" and want to scratch the itch. There are lots of reasons to buy a newer vehicle! What's the next step? Watch this space! Laura Ryan

I am one of the Visitor Hosts at a BNI (Business Network International) referral group that meets every Friday morning at 7am. Even though I get up at 4:30 in the morning every Friday to get there early and set up- I love it! I look forward to Friday all week long. We have about 45 members and usually have at least a couple of visitors,so the energy is incredible! This is the most dynamic group of people I have ever known.
BNI is a strong contact networking group that only allows one person per specialty in each Chapter. I was invited tovisit by our President, Angela Wilhelmi (the most incredible gift basket designer!) and I fell in love with the group the minute I walked in the door. In just a few months, I have sold several cars through direct referrals from this group - and the social, mental and emotional support has been phenomenal.
Not only have I received referrals from the group for several people whocame in and bought a new car from me, I have also met manyindividuals whose services I use regularly myself - and I have gotten all kinds of great ideas that didn't cost me a cent. We are strongly encouraged to meet with each of the other members one-on-one, so I am still finding new services that Ican use. What better way to find a plumber when you need one, than calling someone you know and trust? (thanks, Jim!) Or when your computer router stops working because the wall outlet is arcing, who ya gonna call?(thanks, Rich!)
We are currently interviewing for several specialties that we have lost through normal attrition. These are areas where we have referrals going begging, because we have no one to give them to. We feel that these positions would be a good fit to pass referrals to the rest of the group, too.
Our membersare looking for a reliable house cleaner as well as a good commercial cleaning service. Our search is still on for a landscaper and an educational person (private school, tutoring, something like that), a certified Real Estate appraiser and a pet sitter or veterinarian.
Please email me for more information - or post ideas and suggestions!
