Tennis event to benefit school in need

What:	NEXT › ‹ PREVIOUS First Annual C.A.R.E. Classic Tennis Event, sponsored by Pamela and John Subry with The Subry Group at RE/MAX Northwest and Dean Obenauer with Merrill Lynch, will be held at the Ranch Country Club in Westminster on Friday, May 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. The evening will include social tennis play provided by the tennis professionals at the Ranch Country Club, an exciting exhibition tennis match featuring some of the area's top tennis professional players, as well as terrific silent auction items to bid on. Come and join us for a great night of tennis and help support a school in need. Tickets can be purchased at the Ranch Country Club tennis pro shop. All the proceeds from the event will help with expansion needs at The Ricardo Flores Magón Academy in Westminster. This is a one-of-a-kind state-funded K-8 Charter school opened its doors August of 2007. With students who are mostly of Mexican descent, the goal of the academy is to encourage students to move beyond economic limitations and prepare for high school, college and beyond. In addition to a strong academic curriculum, the Ricardo Flores Magón Academy includes tennis as part of its daily lessons. The waiting list to get into the Academy is growing and so is the need to expand the school to accommodate incoming students. With limited state funding, outside donations are needed to make this school a success.
