A Long Form Improv Weekend Intensive!
Contributed by: Gaining Perspective, Inc. on 7/24/2008

What:
Gaining Perspective Proudly Presents...

Vantage Point
An intensive weekend of improv with a leading instructor in the craft.

At various times throughout the year, Gaining Perspective proudly offers workshops taught by leaders in improvisation. Years of studying, performing and teaching with institutions like Second City, iO, The Annoyance and UCB puts them at the top of the craft. Providing a platform for which they may share their view of the work is an integral piece in helping to shape a more well-rounded perspective throughout Denver's improv community.

On Saturday, September 13th &14th, Gaining Perspective brings Bob Dassie to Denver for his workshop entitled "Beyond Foundation: Exploring the Complexities of Long Form Improvisation".

If you are an improviser interested in gathering more tools as a performer, this is an excellent opportunity for you! Beyond Foundation will concentrate on taking the fundamental aspects of scene work and applying them to more complex, relationship-based scenes. Group dynamics will be explored with a focus on making strong choices for the sake of the scene regardless of how many people are on stage at any given time. By learning to use the silences in a scene, avoiding common pitfalls and having patience to build a relationship and strong characters, long form becomes more vibrant and rooted in reality.

When: Saturday, September 13th & Sunday, September 14th
Where: 2640 Eliot Street, Denver
Times: 10-1 (lunch) 2-5
Cost: $185 early registration. $195 if registered after September 5th

About The Instructor:
Bob Dassie is originally from Chicago where he started performing and teaching in the early 90's. He toured with the Second City and worked in long form improvisation at the IO, (formerly the Improv Olympic), with well-known groups like Baby Wants Candy, Quartet and a two-person group WeirDass, with his wife Stephnie Weir. Now in Los Angeles, he continues to perform regularly at the IOWest and the UCB Theater in a variety of shows. Bob has performed at improv festivals around the globe, has had a few appearances on TV and was a "dancer" in the Alanis Morrisette YouTube video for "My Humps." He can currently be seen as one third of "The Carpet Brothers", a web series on www.60frames.com.
