People who inspired you (and how): Both my mom and my dad, because they are/were both such world thinkers and compassionate people. Second tier would be
John F. Kennedy, because he excited our imaginations to see the world as it could be - also
Martin Luther King Jr., because he demonstrated the power of non-violent persistence. More recently, Speaker
Andrew Romanoff, because he is more than a legislator; he's a statesman.
How you have contributed to the community: During my 27 years as a public school teacher I believe I touched many students lives. In fact, I still am in touch with several who are very fine human beings. Later on, I represented over 700 employees of Adams County School District 50 as the president of the Westminster Education Association, while also serving on the Education Foundation Board. I am involved in my church, Westminster United Methodist, through which I participate in Growing Home, a program for temporarily homeless families.
What are the biggest issues facing your constituency now: The economy is causing more and more people to struggle with regular living expenses for their families. Many of my constituents are stretched too thin with the costs of gas, home heating and health care related expenses.
