Westminster Area Community Awareness Action Team, one of the better kept secrets of our community. Started in the late eighties by a handful of community members with a desire to educate, not scare, kids and parents about drugs and alcohol.
This group has functioned at a very low level, under the radar, trying to let our community understand the thruths about drug and alcohol usage, particularly the use by underage students in our communities. And now that much of that work has been succesful, the federal grant monies have been moved out to the rural towns. As a result of this move CAAT finds itself lacking funds to continue itswork in our schools.
Somee of the board members date back to the begining of this group, and have spent many hours trying to help our kids, and adults understand these issues. And now CAAT is in danger of dying due to lack of funding. One thousand dollars will not cure the problem, but as we all know, every little bit helps. And this money will help these dedicated volunteers to continue doing their good work.
