A typical day in the life of Representative Debbie Benefield includes walking the neighborhoods of House District 29. Saturday September 9 th was a little different. On a cool fall day, Benefield joined in the fun of the Arvada Harvest Day Parade. Accompanied by many of her supporters, all dressed in red, Benefield shared hand-shakes and hugs with many parade viewers.
The festive atmosphere gave Benefield an opportunity to approach many residents who might otherwise hesitate to speak with a candidate. The parade also provided the spectators the chance to see her as a compassionate and friendly person who wants to connect with them. According to Benefield "I want to show my neighbors that I am one of them, and want to help them feel comfortable talking to me". For those who were still a bit shy, the chance to receive a Benefield sticker was hard to resist!
