Kristin,

According to staff with the Westminster Police Department and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the search was done as part of a manhunt for James Richards, 38, who was known to be living in that residence.

Richards, of Westminster, is wanted for a kidnapping that occured in unincorporated Boulder County on the afternoon of Jan. 4, according to Phil West of the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.

Richards is a white male and is believed to be driving a red 1999 Volkswagen Passat with license plate number 156-NLW.

Stephanie Topkoff of the WPD confirmed the SWAT search of the apartment by WPD staff, at the request of the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.

West would not go into more details about the kidnapping other than the victim was a man.

A story in the Boulder Daily Camera reported that the alleged victim was shackled in his home at the 4600 block of Greylock Street and that records indicate his name as Douglas J. Edwards.
