WESTMINSTER, CO, March 31, 2008...St. Anthony North Hospital Newborn Intensive Care Unit has earned Level IIIA designation, up from Level II. With this designation, St. Anthony North is approved to care for babies that are 28 gestational weeks and up and/or as small as 1,000 grams.
The designation is granted by The Colorado Perinatal Care Council (CPCC) whose objective is the improvement of perinatal care services in the State of Colorado.
The NICU nurses at St. Anthony North are highly qualified to care for high-risk infants, and this designation is a testament to the expertise of the staff in the nursery. With the new designation, two staff nurses will be on the unit at all times to respond quickly to emergencies. Neonatologists are from the medical practice whose name is, "The Children's Hospital and Pediatrix" to provide specialized high-risk newborn care.
A full-service acute care hospital located in Westminster, Colorado, St. Anthony North Hospital has a Level IV trauma designation. St. Anthony North has served the people of Adams County and the surrounding communities since 1971 and is part of Centura Health which operates 12 hospitals, seven senior residences, medical clinics and home care and hospice services across Colorado.
