Colorado's Newest Winery Opens
Contributed by: Cheryl Brungardt on 9/29/2006

Colorado's newest winery, Bonacquisti Wine Company, is located in the Pecos Business Plaza just south of I-70 on Pecos Street at 4640 Pecos Street, Unit I. A premium boutique winery that limits production to ensure quality and consistency, Bonacquisti Wine Company is dedicated to eliminating the "snobbery" so often associated with wine consumption. Owners are Paul Bonacquisti, a former on-air Denver radio personality and a Certified Sommelier, and his wife Judi Diaz Bonacquisti, a higher education professional. Paul's grandfather, Giovanni Battista Bonacquisti, emigrated from Castro dei Volsci, Italy in 1900 and came to work in the coal mines near Trinidad, Colorado. The coal camp, Delagua, became the birthplace of Paul's father, and the site where Giovanni put an American flair on his Italian tradition of winemaking. It is in his spirit that Paul and Judi present the wines of Bonacquisti Wine Company. In Italian, bonacquisti literally means "good acquisition" or "good purchase." It is their hope their hope that you agree that their specialty blends live up to their name. Salute!

A grand opening weekend will be held Friday, October 13, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday, October 14, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, October 15, Noon-4 p.m. More information: 303-477-WINE or www.Denverwine.net
