Book Drive to Benefit "Read to the Children"

BOOK DRIVE TO BENEFIT “READ TO THE CHILDREN” LITERACY PROGRAM

A book drive is scheduled to collect new and gently used books for the “Read to the Children” literacy program.  Books for pre-school to elementary age children go to the program and enable Inmates record donated books on cassette tapes and send the tapes and the companion books to their children. 

The book drive will be held on Saturday, November 5, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Westminster, College Hill Library (Front RangeCommunity College campus), 3705 W 112th Ave, 303/404-5555



 Nine institutional libraries offer a “Read to the Children” program, with expansion planned for more.   Cash donations are also gladly accepted for books, cassette tapes and mailing envelopes.   The book drive is sponsored by Colorado State Library, Institutional Library Services.  For further information, contact Diane Walden, Institutional Library Consultant, 719-269-5384 or diane.walden@doc.state.co.us or 303-866-6891.
