2008-2009 Rotary Foundation Scholarship Applications Available
Applications for 2008-2009 Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial scholarships (valued at $23,000) are now available from the Rotary Club of Westminster 7:10. Applicants must not be Rotarians, or related to Rotarians, and must have completed 2 years of college or equivalent.
The Rotary Foundation sponsors one of the world's largest international scholarships program. Scholars study in a country other than their own where they also serve as unofficial ambassadors of goodwill. Since 1947 more than 47,000 scholars from 110 countries have received scholarships at a cost of more than $476 million.
Scholarships are for one regular academic year (usually nine months) of full time study abroad and provide $23,000 for round-trip transportation, tuition and fees, room, board, some educational supplies and language training (if necessary). They can be used for any field of study and a special scholarship is available for the study of architecture or design.
During their studies abroad Rotary Foundation Scholars act as "ambassadors of goodwill." Through appearances before Rotary clubs and districts, schools, civic organization and other forums, the scholars represent their homelands and work to further international understanding.
