On Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at a breakfast meeting at Chiancio's Restaurant at 94th and Sheridan, the Westminster Optimist Club honored two students: Anabel Herrera, Ranum High School and Lilia Munoz, Westminster High School for being selected Student of the Month by the staff adn members of their schools. The Club presented the students with a framed certificate, special key chain and a booklet to preserve school mementos.
Anabel Herrera
, daughter of Isabel and Juan Herrera, is a senior at Ranum High School. She was chosen because she has consistently been a top student. She excels in all of her classes. Anabel is described as always being respectful, helpful and optimistic. She is very motivated and is hardworking. Anabel has played varsity soccer for three years, is a leader of the La Raza youth club, a Sunday School teacher and volunteers at Church and an elementary school. After graduation, Anabel plans to go to the Community College of Denver and the transfer to a university or private four-year college where she plans to obtain a degree in Business Administration.
Lilia Munoz
, daughter of Lilia Munoz, is a junior at Westminster High School.
She was chosen because of her dedication to her education and her future. She pushes herself in advance placement classes and is working towards college. As a live long learner, Lilia continually seeks more information about the world around her. She loves making connections with people. She is described as being caring and compassionate. Lilia's extracurricular activities include swimming, Westy Ambassadors, and she is currently a LINK leader. After graduation Lilia plans to attend college.
