Father of the year nomination from Laurence Lopez
Contributed by: Laurence Lopez on 6/22/2007

Amazing, humorous and fantastic are only three out of millions of ways that describe how great my dad is. I nominate my dad for father of the year not only because he's the best dad, but because he is also the best companion and the most reliable honest and faithful person that anyone has ever known.

Although it is nice, he is no the best dad because of what he buys me. My dad is the best dad by the time that he sacrifices to be with his family, the everyday occasional tips and advice that he gives me and especially the illustrious and astonishing stories that he shares from his or our childhood. Some aren't always happy, but they teach us to be careful and he also tells us some because he doesn't want us to make his mistakes. Although many of his stories are to warn us about dangers that may occur he also fills our minds with exciting and fun ones, he also adds in some fiction to spice them up and make them into a comedy. My dad not only takes time to play and physical games such as wrestling and fighting with us, but he sits down and plays board games and makes fun of us, (playing around). The fact that amazes me is that he still plays with us after my sister and I fight, and also after a hard day of physical labor at work.

I ask myself what I did to deserve him after all he does for the family and I. my dad is really protective over my sister and me, even if it comes to small matters. Everyday he makes sure we look both before crossing the street and that we be careful of strangers. The most important thing is that we trust each other all the time which we do even when we get in fights I remind myself that I was wrong and how I feel afterwards. My dad sacrifices time to be there for me, and he has missed work to see me perform even if if was in kindergarten. He sacrifices catching a cold for us. He has never missed a performance by my sister or me. He is always exhausted from work and constantly reminds me to get a good job with a great education so I don't have to work so hard or be low on money. He really cares about my future but he lets me have my room to go out with friends 3 out of 4 times. He helps me out with homework when needed, but he doesn't give me the answers. Instead, he explains how to get them.

My dad is very confident, considerable and along with many I think that he is a great man. He does not accept charity because when he has a problem he perserveres at finding an answer. I love my dad for every millisecond of every day and I always will, when I'm in trouble or when I'm angry, I always will.

My dad surpasses the standards of what numerous people expect from him anywhere. In my mind, my dad is already the father of the year because I am proud to share his name and I'm to call him dad, daddy or father, but because he is the best dad out of the whole galaxy.
