Long-distance love story
Contributed by: Stephanie Rosch on 2/14/2007

My husband and I didn't know each other until late in college. He went to the University of Idaho and I was going to St. Cloud State Unviersity in Minnesota. We both happened to hold national positions at our respective schools and ended up heading to Lincoln, Nebraska, in May of 1998. We were there for a National Residence Hall Conference and I ended up meeting a friend of his at the conference. He introduced us and we become quick friends.

After hanging out for the week-long conference, we couldn't imagine not trying a long-distance relationship, because after all I was going back to Minnesota and he was going back to California. All summer long he flew out to visit, and I flew out to visit him. When it came time for him to start his new job after graduating from college (in Missouri by the way), he couldn't imagine being so far away from me. He got a job across Wisconsin, and so our courtship continued.

With many cards, letters, emails and trips across Wisconsin, we grew deeper in love. In August, he flew out to Minnesota to take me out to dinner and asked me to marry him. I said yes and in July of 1999 we were married. It's now 8 years and 1 baby girl later, and we couldn't imagine being more in love. Every day is a reminder of how lucky we are to be in the same state together forever.
