Foundation Honors Acts of Bravery

The Westminster Public Safety Recognition Foundation held its sixth annual awards banquet on September 11. Local businesses and organizations sponsor the event, which honors acts of bravery and those who serve above and beyond the call of duty. This year stories ranged from saving a high school girl's life to pulling a couple from a burning vehicle. The full stories behind the awards can be found on the City website.

Honorees included: Cameron Durand and Jennifer Washington (Citizen Award); Chris Hemplemann (Jim Hull Memorial Award); Herb George and Ken Watkins (Fire Career Achievement Award); Morton Anderson, CPA (Business Award); Louis Engleberg, Dan Mayer, Kimberly Martinez and Ken Smart (Police Meritorious Service Award); Craig Communal, Matt Jurischk and Jude Perez (Police Distinguished Service Award); Marc Faluotico, Ronnie Taylor, Dan Maurais and David Varney (Fire Distinguished Service Cross Award) . Plus 18 firefighters received the Fire Lifesaving Award: Jeromy Hill, Mark VanDenAbbeele, Danny Fitch, Marcos Zavala, Susie Williams, Jake Lieser, Chad Christian, Mike Ziegler, Dave Weiss, Scott Murdie, Phil Tahmindjis, Battalion Chief Paul Spellman, Paul Amundson, Scott Wilmes, Rick Barker, Tony Noce, Jim Feggestad, and Jeff Wegert.
