On December 21, 2005 Don VanArsdale received the 2005 Community Service Award from the Westminster 7:10 Rotary Club. The purpose of this award is to support the Rotary ideal of exemplary voluntary service to the community and to recognize high ethical standards.
Although Don has already been widely recognized for his service to the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District, his service to the community far transcends that service. He has chaired the Board of Elders at his church and served on numerous church committees. He has served as a member of the North Metro Arts Alliance (formerly the Westminster Community Artists Series) for 20 years. He has been a Rotarian for 30 years, with perfect attendance. He has served the two Rotary clubs in Westminster in countless capacities and has served as president of both the Westminster Rotary Club and the Westminster 7:10 Rotary Club. In 2000 he received Rotary's Active Senior Award, presented by Rotary District 5450 in recognition of his long history of community service and his continued contributions with no sign of slowing down.
Don represents the highest ethical standards championed by Rotary. During the year of his presidency of the Westminster 7:10 Rotary Club he concluded every meeting with a recitation of the Four Way Test: Is it the truth, is it fair to all concerned, will it build goodwill and better friendships, and will it be beneficial to all concerned. This is the standard by which Don has lived his life. The Westminster 7:10 Rotary Club was proud to present him with its Community Service Award in recognition of his over 30 years of community service.
