Contributed by: YourHub.com on 3/28/2008

The Orchard Town Center, Westminster's newest shopping, pedestrian mall at 144th Avenue and I-25, officially opens to the public on Thursday, April 3, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to the City of Westminster Web site. The ribbon cutting, which begins at 10 a.m. in the Orchard Town Square, will mark a weeklong celebration that features live music, special community fundraisers and a movie gala.

The Orchard Town Center, located at the northwest corner of I-25 and 144th Avenue, is a unique, pedestrian-friendly lifestyle village offering residents and visitors exceptional options in shopping, dining and entertainment in an environment that invites lingering, relaxing and socializing. Designed in classic prairie craftsmanship inspired by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, The Orchard Town Center will provide between 80-100 retail establishments that will blend with the surrounding neighborhoods, with convenient access to services for existing and future residents. The Forest City development is anchored by Macy's, J.C. Penney, SuperTarget and an AMC 12 Theater that will feature the IMAX digital movie experience. Many other popular shops and restaurants add to the popular mix of retail offerings.

To celebrate the grand opening The Orchard Town Center and AMC Entertainment are offering two exciting grand opening events that benefit the Westminster Legacy Foundation and the Westminster 7:10 Rotary Club. The AMC Orchard 12 Gala, featuring family-friendly movies, will take place on Wednesday, April 2, the eve of The Orchard's opening, at the new all-digital AMC Orchard 12. Moviegoers can get these exclusive tickets by purchasing a tile for the "Prints of Pride" program, which invites children and dogs to leave a lasting impression at the new lifestyle center by imprinting clay tiles with their hand and paw prints. The tax-deductible donation for each tile is $60 and attendees must register online.
