The National Safety Council recently awarded the prestigious "Alive at 25" National Instructor of the Year to Westminster Police Detective Phil Maimone. The ceremony took place in Chicago at the National Safety Council Exposition. Mayor Nancy McNally also recognized Maimone at a Westminster City Council meeting for his highly successful efforts.
The goal of "Alive at 25" is to teach drivers between the ages of 15 and 25 to adopt safe driving practices and to take responsibility for their behaviors. Each year, approximately 14,000 students complete this four-hour program. Class instructors are off-duty law enforcement officers who can relate important, real-life examples that have lasting impressions.
""Alive at 25" is a program that saves lives and provides a positive way for officers to be involved with young people. It is a great honor to have been nominated for and selected as the recipient of this award", said Maimone.
