DRUNKEN MAN RUNS RED LIGHT, CRASHES

A 31-year-old Wheat Ridge man was taken into custody Sept. 30 after he allegedly crashed into another vehicle after running a red light. Officers were dispatched at 4:21 p.m. to the intersection of Church Ranch Boulevard and Wadsworth Parkway on a report of an accident. An investigation revealed the 31-year-old-man was under the influence of alcohol when he ran the stoplight and broadsided another car. He denied drinking and refused to take a breathalyzer test, stating "no blood, no test." He was issued a summons and transferred to detox.

STUDENT CITED FOR BOMB THREAT

A male student at Mountain Range High School was cited for disorderly conduct Sept. 29 after he allegedly told school officials he planned on bringing a bomb in anticipation of a visit from presidential candidate Barack Obama. Security officials at Mountain Range High School, 12500 Huron St., told police they overheard the student say it would be funny if he "ran outside with a bomb" as Obama was giving his speech. The student, who was detained by security, said it was just a joke. He was issued the summons and later released to his mother.

'GOOFY' COMMENT LEADS TO ALTERCATION

Two students at Westminster High School were issued summonses for disorderly conduct Sept. 29 for their involvement in a gang altercation. Police were dispatched at 1:19 p.m. to the school at 4276 68th Ave. in reference to a situation involving some gang members. According to campus security, one of the students asked another if he was "goofy," which is a disrespectful way of asking someone if they're in a gang. The two exchanged words and briefly became involved in a physical altercation, but a teacher broke up the fight. Both students were later released to their parents.

MAN CITED FOR TRESPASSING AT WAL-MART

A 24-year-old Arvada man was cited for unlawful trespassing Sept. 30 after he was caught in the break room at Wal-Mart. Officers were dispatched at 11:44 p.m. to the store at 7155 Sheridan Blvd. in reference to a suspect who ran from security and another who was detained. An investigation revealed two men were found trespassing in the store's employee-only areas. One of the men ran off, but the other fell to the ground and was detained by security. The man, who appeared to be intoxicated, stated he wanted to press charges against the store because a security guard punched him in the face. He later was transported to detox.
