SUSPECTED COCAINE TURNS OUT TO BE URINE
A 43-year-old Boulder man was cited for careless driving and unsafe lane change after he was involved in an accident Dec. 6. The man was contacted by police after he was involved in an accident with another driver near Interstate 25 and 120th Avenue. A search of the man, who appeared nervous and fidgety, turned up a vial of a white powdery substance. When asked what was in the vial, the man stated it was dehydrated urine that he uses during routine drug tests with his parole officer. The officer tested the substance, which turned up negative for methamphetamine and cocaine.
TRUCK REPORTED STOLEN
A 23-year-old Westminster man reported his truck was stolen from his home on the 1600 block of 135th Drive sometime between Dec. 6 and 7. The truck was valued at $10,000.
GIRL'S COMPUTER STOLEN
A 21-year-old Westminster woman reported four suspected gang members stole a computer monitor from her home Dec. 4. The woman called police at 11:23 p.m. to report the theft. She stated four men were at her home hanging out when she noticed them walking out of the door with a Dell computer monitor estimated at $1,100. One of the men, a suspected gang member, tried to distract her as the others got away with the item. The officer called the man, who denied knowing anything and quickly hung up the phone. The woman stated she does not know where the man's address, but suspects he lives in Brighton. The investigation is ongoing.
DRUNKEN MAN RESISTS ARREST
A 25-year-old Erie man was taken to jail Dec. 6 after he allegedly started a fight at a bar and resisted an officer's attempt to take him to detox. Police were called at 12:32 a.m. to the Fox and Hound Bar, 4750 W. 120th Ave., on a report of a physical disturbance. Patrons at the bar said the Erie man was physically aggressive with people who were trying to prevent him from driving home. The officer deemed the man a danger to himself and others and attempted to place him in handcuffs, but he refused, allegedly stating, "Are you (expletive) kidding me? Detox is (expletive) $450. No (expletive) way." After a brief struggle, the man was eventually handcuffed and taken to Adams County Jail, where he was cited for obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest.
BURGLARY CALL LEADS TO ARREST
A 23-year-old Arvada man and a 21-year-old Adams County man were taken into custody Dec. 16 for allegedly attempting to break into a car. At 12:44 a.m., police were called to the area of Shoe Carnival, 6825 W. 88th Ave., on a report of a burglary that just occurred. Two men seen running northbound from the store were arrested at gunpoint. Though the men said nothing about the burglary, they allegedly admitted to breaking out the windows of a nearby truck. They were arrested and transported to the Westminster Police Department to be interviewed about the crime.
