Blotter: Woman assaulted at Big Dry Creek trail

WOMAN ASSAULTED, ROBBED

Police are looking for a man who assaulted and robbed a 24-year-old Golden woman while she was on a walk Dec. 7. The woman told police she was walking her dogs at approximately 5:45 p.m. down the Big Dry Creek trail near the 1600 block of 124th Avenue when she noticed a man sitting in the weeds next to the path. The man, described as a white male with blonde hair and blue eyes between 20 and 30 years old, asked her for the time. When she looked down at her watch, the man moved closer and demanded all of her money. When she told him she didn't have her wallet, the man punched her in the face. She then gave the man $80 in cash. He continued to punch her until her dog bit him in the calf. The woman said she also grabbed her keys and used them to strike the man, though she was unsure if she made contact. Police canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the man. MAN HOSPITALIZED AFTER ASSAULT ON BUS

A 23-year-old Lakewood man was taken to the hospital Dec. 11 after a man physically assaulted him on a bus. Officers were dispatched at 1:49 p.m. to the 8800 block of Wadsworth Parkway on a report of an injured male. The Lakewood man, whose face was covered in blood, said he was assaulted while sitting on the bus by a man he's had problems with in the past. The man said he was punched several times in the face before the assailant took off on foot. The man required stitches to his head. Officers were still searching for the assailant at the time of the report.

MAN BUSTED FOR DUI, HIT AND RUN

A 28-year-old Westminster man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he crashed into a brick wall and attempted to drive away. Police responded at 1:25 a.m. to the 3300 block of West 94th Avenue in reference to a hit and run accident. A resident on the street told police she heard a loud crash outside and saw a Ford Expedition that crashed into a fence. She went to call police, but discovered the car had left the scene upon her return. Officers searched the area and located the car, which was registered to a resident on the street. Police contacted the owner of the car, who eventually said he crashing the car. After failing a roadside sobriety test, the man was arrested and taken to jail.

DRUNK DRIVER ARRESTED

A 26-year-old Westminster man who hit a pole in a parking lot before heading out on the road was arrested Dec. 12 on suspicion of DUI. An officer on patrol near King Soopers, 9983 Wadsworth Parkway, pulled the man over at 1:43 a.m. after he failed to turn on his headlights. The man, who appeared drunk and smelled of booze, denied drinking any alcohol before getting behind the wheel. As the officer and the man were talking, dispatch aired a report of a driver who just hit a pole in the King Soopers parking lot and drove away. Officers stated the damage to the pole was consistent with the damage to the driver's car. He was arrested and taken to jail after failing a sobriety test.

BUS DRIVER PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED

A 38-year-old driver of a RTD bus was assaulted by a drunken passenger Dec. 9. The driver told police he had stopped at 9:51 p.m. at the bus stop at Front Range Community College, 3645 W. 112th Ave., when he noticed a passenger in the back of the bus drinking beer. He told the rider he needed to get off the bus, which he did. As the driver was emptying the trash, the drunken passenger suddenly came back and approached him, calling him a derogatory name before jumping on his back. A brief struggle ensued before the drunk man ran off southbound from the college. A search of the area did not turn up the suspect. The driver was not seriously injured.
