Westminster Police
SAFEWAY GAS STATION BURGLARIZED
At about 8:24 p.m. March 17, police responded to a burglary at the Safeway gas station, 8404 Federal Blvd. A woman came into the station and demanded all of the money from the safe and told the clerk to unplug the phone. The clerk complied and gave the woman $342 before she left. The woman was described as being possibly black between 16 to 20 years old and 5' 6" weighing 120 pounds. The clerk was unable to see the woman's hair color because it was under a black hooded sweatshirt. The woman has brown eyes, a small nose, small ears and buckedtooth. She was wearing a black sweatshirt, sweatpants, a pink shirt and black shoes. A surveillance tape caught the burglary. Employees believed the suspect was a former employee who was fired for writing bad checks. The suspect carried herself like the former employee and knew the door to the safe was locked with an Allen wrench and she knew how to unlock it. The suspect left in a black vehicle. Police were unable to locate the vehicle. Police were unable to contact the woman at any of the addresses she was listed under.
FIRST NATIONAL BANK ROBBED
Police responded at about 1:19 p.m. March 18 to a robbery at the First National Bank, 8531 Church Ranch Blvd. A bank teller told police a man came in to the bank with a note that read, "I have a gun." The man told the teller, "I'm not (explicative) around here." and told the teller to give him "large bills only, no dye packs." The teller gave the man two stacks of 25 $20 bills, four $50 bills and a $100 bill totalling $1,300. The man was described as 5' 10" or 11", in his early 20s with dark hair, slender build and facial stubble. He was wearing a white baseball cap, a light-colored athletic jacket and possibly wearing baggy blue jeans. The man left in white Chevy or GMC full-sized pick up truck with a black stripe around the top of the bed. The driver of the truck was described as a stocky Hispanic man in his late 20s who is possibly shorter with a white bandana tied around his face.
