SECURITY GUARD STABBED
Three Westminster High School students were arrested April 3 for allegedly assaulting a security guard. One of the teens involved in the incident, a 17-year-old male, allegedly stabbed the security guard in the leg during the scuffle. Police say three teens were stopped at 8:53 a.m. by a security guard at Wal-Mart, 7155 Sheridan Blvd., because he suspected they had stolen some items. The teens attempted to run away, but the guard grabbed the 17-year-old in a "bear hug," according to witnesses. The teen then brandished a knife and stabbed the guard before another security officer could detain him. One of the teens involved in the incident escaped, but was later tracked down and arrested once police learned his identity. They were booked on suspicion of aggravated robbery armed with a deadly weapon. They attempted to steal lunch meat and cheese, according to the report.
STUDENTS BUSTED WITH WEAPONS
Two male students at Mountain Range High School were suspended and ticketed March 31 after they were found in possession of knives. A campus security guard at the school detained the students at approximately 12:30 p.m. after noticing a silver clip outside of one of the boys' front pocket. They were taken to the dean of student's office and searched, which revealed knives in both of the boys' backpacks. Both knives were approximately 3-inches in length.

Police were dispatched at 11:42 p.m. to the intersection of 104th Avenue and Federal Boulevard to assist Federal Heights police officers in an accident investigation. Witnesses say the driver of the car spun out of control while making a turn onto Federal and crashed into a light pole. She then repeatedly said "I just want to go to rehab" and refused to take a blood test.
WOMAN BUSTED WITH FORGED CHECK
A 37-year-old Denver woman was arrested April 3 after she attempted to cash a fraudulent check. Officers were dispatched at 11:09 a.m. to First Bank, 9410 Sheridan Blvd., on a report of a suspicious customer. Employees at the bank told officers the woman hid in the bathroom after she was told the police had been called. The woman eventually came out of the bathroom and told police the check - which was made out in her name for $4,000 - was given to her by her boss. The owner of the check was contacted and told police he had never heard of the woman attempting to cash it. A background check on the woman revealed a warrant out of Adams County. She was subsequently transported to the Adams County Jail on booked on charges of identity theft.
POLICE TRACK DOWN DUI SUSPECT
A 22-year-old Denver man who crashed his car into a ditch and left the scene of the accident April 3 was tracked down and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to notify police of an accident. Police were dispatched at 11:43 p.m. to 70th Avenue and Canosa Street on a report of two men running from the scene of a car accident. A witness of the accident told police the men ran up to her car and asked for a ride, but she couldn't fully understand them because they spoke Spanish. Police searched the crashed car and turned up a cell phone store receipt that listed the driver's home address in Denver. The driver answered the door and had a gash on his forehead, consistent with an injury received from an airbag being deployed. He refused roadside maneuvers and was taken into custody.
