MAN NOT GOING TO ROB YOU, HE'S JUST 'UGLY'
A 54-year-old Longmont man was issued a summons at 3:09 p.m. April 25 after going into an Ethan Allen furniture store, 8780 W. 101st Ave., with a professional wrestling-type mask on. Police were dispatched to a robbery-in-progress at the store. An employee said she saw a car pull up with two people inside with masks on and fearing a robbery told everyone to flee the store through the back. Officers formed a perimeter around the store. A man in a mask, who was still in the store, was ordered to the ground. Upon interviewing the suspects, officers learned the 54-year-old and his wife had bought masks at a flea market and wore them to Ethan Allen. The man's wife removed hers before entering the store, but the man left his face mask on. The man, who said he thought it would be funny to wear the mask in the store, told his wife, "If anyone asks why I'm wearing this mask, tell them I'm ugly." They entered the store and started shopping. They thought it was a little odd there were no employees in the store. The man was processed at the Westminster Police Department and released on a municipal summons. Another shopper was placed in custody but quickly released. He said he saw the man in the mask and thought it was "a little strange," but kept shopping.
TWO PEOPLE STABBED, SUSPECT(S) NOT IN CUSTODY
Two people were stabbed at approximately 4:39 a.m. April 25 near the intersection of 70th Avenue and Stuart Street. Police were dispatched to a large physical disturbance, possibly involving as many as 20 people. Everyone scattered before police arrived. Police contacted a 23-year-old Denver man who had been stabbed. He said he was trying to protect a girl, but wasn't able to. The man said the suspect was a white or Hispanic male between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was taken to Saint Anthony's North Hospital to be treated for two cuts on his wrist and a possible punch injury to his eye. The man later called police with a name of the suspect, but police were unable to locate the man at the time of this report. The juvenile female was stabbed "accidentally" in the arm with scissors, according to a witness. The juvenile said she was at an apartment party and a fight broke out between members of the Northside Blood gang and an unknown Asian gang, possibly called "PCP." The juvenile said she was trying to leave the party, but got caught between 10 males who were fighting in the street. She said she was punched and kicked several times. The suspect who stabbed her was described as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 16 to 17 years old, 5 feet 3 inches tall, thin build and wearing a white T-shirt. The suspect was not located at the time of this report. The juvenile was taken to Denver Health Medical Center for treatment for non-serious bodily injuries. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call 303-658-4360.
