Blotter: Drunken man claims he was beaten by teens

DRUNKEN MAN FOUND BEATEN

A 30-year-old Westminster man was taken to the hospital May 12 after he allegedly was jumped by several teenagers. Officers found the man slumped over in front of Banfield Pet Hospital, 7243 Federal Blvd., at approximately 12:56 a.m. The man, who had a large cut on the left side of his face, was extremely intoxicated, according to the report. He told police he's homeless and was assaulted by several teenagers earlier in the day in a field south of Nolan's RV & Marine, 6935 N. Federal Blvd. He could not provide descriptions of the suspects. The man stated he served in the military and would take care of the matter himself. He was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

POLICE INVESTIGATE CHOKING INCIDENT

A woman who allegedly choked her roommate while she was sleeping will not face charges, according to a report. Officers were dispatched at around 6:15 a.m. May 13 to Clear Creek Care Center, 7481 Knox Place, in reference to an assault. Staffers at the senior facility said an 84-year-old woman choked her roommate that morning because the woman talks in her sleep. She told police she knew it was wrong, but she was tired and lost her temper. The choking victim did not pursue charges.

DRUNK DRIVER CITED AFTER CRASH

A 36-year-old Denver man was cited for DUI and careless driving May 12 after he crashed his car into a signpost. The accident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. near the intersection of 81st Avenue and Federal Boulevard. The man, who was not injured in the accident, told police he drank six beers at a nearby bar before getting behind the wheel. A breathalyzer test revealed the man had a blood alcohol content level of .223.

CONSTRUCTION SITE BURGLARIZED

More than $4,000 worth of items was reported stolen from a construction site at 112th Avenue and Federal Boulevard. The supervisor of the site said someone broke the lock of a construction trailer and took more than 600 pounds of copper wire and a generator. Police have no leads in the case.
