WESTMINSTER POLICE
TEEN THREATENS PLAYMATES WITH RAZOR
A 13-year-old boy was detained by police May 27 after he allegedly threatened children at a playground with a hobby knife. Police were called at 7:12 p.m. to a park on the 7300 block of Irving Street on a report of a young male chasing around kids at the playground with a small knife, which turned out to be an Exacto knife. The boy was detained, searched and later released to his parents.
STEREO REPORTED STOLEN
A 46-year-old Arvada man reported someone broke into his vehicle and stole the car stereo sometime between May 27 and 28. The report stated the man left his car unlocked on the 5600 block of West 75th Place when the burglary occurred. The stereo was estimated at $100. A pair of sunglasses also was stolen.
VEHICLE VANDALIZED
A 42-year-old Westminster man reported damage to his car that occurred sometime between May 27 and 28 while it was parked on the 10000 block of Chase Street. A report stated the car's window was broken out, resulting in approximately $220 of damage.
TEENS SUSPECTED IN ARSON
Witnesses say a group of teens are responsible for lighting trash can fires and a port-a-potty on fire at Westbrook Park, 9750 W. 97th Ave., at around 9:15 p.m. May 27. Two girls who were playing nearby watched the teens set the fires, according to a report. The girls put the fires out with sand from a nearby playground. Damage estimates were not provided.
EX-BOYFRIEND HARASSES WOMAN
Police are looking for a 37-year-old Littleton man who allegedly broke his ex-girlfriend's window during an argument. Officers were dispatched at 10 p.m. May 26 to an apartment complex on the 10000 block of Grove Loop in reference to a possible burglary. A woman at the apartment told police she and her ex-boyfriend had been fighting that day and that the man broke open her window after she locked him out. He then fled the area on foot. Police were unable to locate the man at the time of the report.
BURGLAR MAKES OFF WITH BEERS
An unknown man stole three bottles of beer from the garage of a house on the 5500 block of 112th Place at approximately 3 p.m. May 26. A resident called police after he watched a man walk into his neighbor's garage and take the beers. The man told police he approached the suspect to ask what he was doing, but the burglar ran off. The beers were estimated to be worth about $10.
OFFICERS INVESTIGATE FAMILY SPAT
A 45-year-old Westminster man was investigated for menacing use of a deadly weapon after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend's daughter with a steak knife. The incident occurred at approximately 5:48 p.m. May 30 at a residence on the 7000 block of Beach Street. A teen girl told police she was arguing with the man when he threatened her with a knife. The man stated he was attempting to use a chisel to remove the door to the girl's room. Due to a lack of evidence supporting the teen's story, the man was released.
