WOMAN MUGGED AFTER TRIP TO ATM MACHINE

A 44-year-old Westminster woman was taken to the hospital June 25 after she was mugged after a trip to a nearby ATM machine. The woman told police she withdrew $400 from the machine at Colorado Credit Union at 88th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard and drove home. As she was getting out of the car, a man walked up behind her and said, "Just give me the purse." The suspect then tugged at her purse and said, "I'm not kidding" before hitting her several items over the head with an unknown object. She told police she thought the object was a gun, but couldn't be sure. He then ran off with her purse, going west, according to the report. Police were unable to locate a suspect. The woman received several stitches at Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge for her injuries.

A fast food employee reported a man exposed himself to her June 23 as she was taking his order. The incident occurred at approximately 5:36 p.m. at Hamburger Stand, 303 72nd Ave., Westminster. The employee, who was working the drive-thru, told police she was preparing to hand the man back his credit card when she noticed his penis was out. She said she was shocked and stepped back. The man exited the parking lot and police were unable to locate him in the area.

SUMMONS ISSUED FOR ANIMAL NEGLECT

A 28-year-old Bailey man was cited for animal neglect June 28 after he left his dog locked in the car for a long period of time. An officer was dispatched at 2:55 p.m. to the parking lot of Hyland Hills Golf Course, 9650 Sheridan Blvd., on a report of a Siberian Husky locked inside a silver Audi. The dog was panting and his leash was stuck on the emergency brake. The officer left a warning after he was called out to another animal neglect call. When he came back an hour later, the dog was still in the car, panting heavily in 82-degree heat. The officer eventually made contact with the owner of the car, who laughed at the warning and said he did nothing wrong.

DUI SUSPECT RAMBLES EN ROUTE TO HOSPITAL

A 25-year-old Westminster man was arrested for driving under the influence June 27 after he lost control of his car and crashed on the side of the road. Officers were called at approximately 1:36 a.m. to the accident at the intersection of Grove Lane and 108th Avenue. An investigation revealed the man allegedly had too much to drink and crashed the car. As the officer was driving the man to the hospital for a chemical test, the man allegedly made several incoherent and rambling statements, such as, "It's my mom's 40th birthday, I bought the keg," and "I shouldn't have done that," and "I got grass all over me, I was just running to my girlfriend's then I was coming, never mind."

BICYCLIST TAUNTED, HARASSED

A 37-year-old Westminster man was threatened June 25 by an unknown suspect as he was riding his bike in the south part of the city. The man told police he was traveling near 76th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard at about 3:45 p.m. when a driver of a green Chevrolet Cavalier began taunting him and calling him names. At one point, the driver intentionally swerved at the bicyclist to hit him, but missed. The driver then continued to follow the man, threatening him with a chain and a baseball bat. The man eventually rode to a Taco Bell restaurant at 80th Avenue and Chase Drive to call police. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.
