A local nonprofit organization will celebrate a special anniversary this summer, and Adams County's senior homeowners will reap the benefits.
Working with more than 1,000 volunteers, Brothers Redevelopment will paint the homes of seniors in multiple metro area cities during the organization's 30
th Annual Paint-A-Thon, set for Aug. 16.
To qualify, homeowners must be at least 60 years old, demonstrate financial need and be on-site during the Paint-A-Thon. Homeowners get to choose the color of paint. Seniors are encouraged to sign-up quickly for the effort, as assessments will begin this spring to ensure that both applicants and their homes meet basic criteria.
Selected homeowners will see huge savings. These days, the average cost to paint a home can surpass $5,000-a significant amount for a homeowner living on a fixed monthly income.
Anyone can nominate a senior's home for painting. Seniors who would like to have their home painted can obtain an application by calling Brothers Redevelopment at 303-202-6340. You'll also find applications online at
www.brothersredevelopment.org. The application deadline is July 1.
Corporations, churches, civic organizations and neighborhood groups are encouraged to volunteer to paint a home during the event. Teams may nominate and paint the home of a senior in their own community.
Since the Paint-A-Thon was launched in 1978, volunteers have painted the homes of more than 6,300 seniors statewide.
Brothers Redevelopment's 30
th Annual Paint-A-Thon is presented by American Family Insurance, the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA), Diamond Vogel Paints, The Mountain West Sports Network (The Mtn.) and 9NEWS.
