To Adams County Tax Payers,

We should all be questioning how our money is being spent at the Adams County Coroners Office. Why did the Coroner Jim Hibbard purchase a fully loaded expedition (including air conditioned seats) that has never been used for Coroner Office business, he drives it back and forth to his house. Why are we paying a salary to the Coroner while he's golfing? Hibbard eliminated the Nextel (communication) device for the County Forensic Pathologist, citing budget concerns but allows the office secretary to maintain one. We're paying for "pharmacological certification" of Coroner employees as well as the time for them to attend classes; no other Coroner office believes this is necessary. With budget issues why are we paying thousands of dollars for fortune cookies and key chains to be given away at the Adams County Fair. Why are Coroner Office employees being required to work overtime to sit and pass these items out to fair attendees? Why does the smallest office in AdamsCounty have the largest employee turnover? Hibbard just appointed a Chief Deputy who not only has no coroner experience, (her previous job was registering sex offenders) she has never been in charge of a criminal scene, a death investigation or homicide. When shift coverage is necessary Hibbard provides the coverage because she's not qualified to investigate or process a death scene. She has no supervision or management experience, when asked why he would hire her considering her lack of qualifications he replied "she's a female". Is this the type of quality AdamsCounty deserves? Adams County Human Resources is and has been aware of the continuing hostile work environment at the Coroners office but they have done nothing. How many Coroner office employees have left citing the hostile work environment, specifically Hibbards' abusive actions and treatment of employees? Hibbards response to hostile and abuse accusations "disgruntled employees". How many disgruntled employees does it take before other elected officials who are very aware of this stand up and put a stop to this not only for the best interest of Adams County but what about the moral and ethical requirements of these elected officials? How many tax dollars are being paid out to victims of Coroner Hibbards' office and how many more will be paid out. County Commissioner Alice Nichols and other elected officials are up for re-election, I encourage everyone to ask why Jim Hibbard is allowed to utilize tax dollars for his "private vehicle" and why employees are being victimized. With very little investigation these facts have come to light, how many other facts need to be disclosed to tax payers.
