Optimist Officer of the Year

Officer Adam Nielsen was selected as this year's Officer of the Year for the Optimist Club Respect for Law Day Award. Officer Nielsen had been a police officer with the City of Westminster for 4 ½ years.

In his nomination letter Officer Nielsen's supervisor stated "Adams has a strong work ethic and has taken on some ancillary assignments in addition to his normal patrol assignments. As noted, Adam is a Field Training Instructor which is a critical position as it involves molding new employees into the type of high caliber officer we expect and demand. He is also a Hostage Negotiator on the S.W.A.T. team. Lastly, Adam is a member of the Intergraph Project Team and is heavily involved in training officers on the I-Leads report writing system."

Sergeant Sailor stated he has been continually impressed with Adam's solid work ethic, attention to duty and level of dedication to this department and the police profession.

Officer Nielsen was presented with his award from the Optimist Club on May 26, 2009.
