My name:
Faith Winter
Age:
27
My family:
My husband Mark, my dogs Kooba and Moxie
What I do:
National Field Director of The White House Project, a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing a richly diverse, critical mass of women into leadership. I work to empower and inspire people to become leaders!
My favorite place in town to hang out:
I love taking my dogs to the park on Simms, watching comedy at Mad Cap Theater, and playing trivia or watching sports at Buffalo Wild Wings.
What I like most about living here:
The parks, the open space, and all of my neighbors and friends.
My interests and hobbies:
· Backpacking . One accomplishment I'm most proud of is backpacking across Rocky Mountain National Park from Estes Park to Grand Lake.
· Gardening, although I still have a lot to learn.
· Cheering on the Bronco's, my family has had season tickets since 1960. Go Broncos!
What is my favorite thing to cook:
Stir Fry, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and 3-layered pie.
People who inspired me (and how):
My dad who taught how to live with passion, my mom who taught me how to care, my sister who taught me how to laugh, and my husband who taught me how to believe in myself.
How I have contributed to the community:
I believe in rolling up my sleeves and doing the work it takes to make a difference.
· Westminster Citizen's Police Academy Graduate 2007
· PR committee member for Habitat for Humanity
· Community Organizer on the Project to bring light rail to the Metro area
· Community Organizer on Amendment 37 Renewable Energy Initiative
· Community Organizer on the Redevelopment of the Gates Rubber Factory
· Program Director for a project that turned out over 90,000 young voters in 2004
· Community liaison on the I-70 East Environmental Impact Statement
· Colorado Institute of Leadership Training Graduate
· Economic Development Big Horn Fellow 2006
· Environmental Leadership Institute Graduate
· Civic Leadership Institute Graduate
· Co-Chair of the Women's Legislative Breakfast 2005 and 2006
· Co-Director of Girl Scouts Day at the Capitol
· Project Associate at a Homeless Shelter
What are the biggest issues facing your city now:
The most important issue is property values. Our homes are the biggest investments our families make and we need to protect that investment. We need to do this by continued support of our parks and open space, reducing graffiti, emphasizing code enforcement and making our streets safe, and by having smart, strong economic development that meets our resident's needs.
I believe another important issue is increasing our youth programs. Most of our youth crime occurs between 3pm and 7pm. We need to give our children opportunities to learn skills that will give them hope for the future. For example, I would like to start a program that places our high school students with local businesses to help our business owners with tech needs and graphic design needs. Also, I would like to partner with a micro enterprise organization to help our young people start their own businesses. These programs need to be both affordable and accessible to all our children.
Finally, the Westminster Mall is in huge need of attention. We have an enormous opportunity with the addition of light rail to the area and we need to take full advantage of this situation. I believe we need to redevelop the area with mixed-use development that includes residential, office and retail space. The redevelopment should attract both national and local businesses. I would like to create an incubator and support space that grows our local business economy and our tax base.

Faith, if you see this, we would like to know why you think it is okay to use a dialer to call us at home and use prerecorded diatribe to attempt to convince us to vote for you. Our number is unlisted and kept private at our expense to avoid unsolicited phone calls such as yours. Also, the number is listed on the Colorado Do Not Call list. We guess because you are only selling your candidacy and not a product, you think it is okay to solicit? It is really not okay. Please do not continue this practice. A quick check with coworkers and friends living in Westminster revealed that they share the same feelings about this activity. It appears you are costing yourself votes. Just so you know.
