Broad support for Faith Winter for city council
Contributed by: Sara Lemmon on 10/12/2007

Letters to the Editor Supporting Faith

I am so honored to have received so much support from the community. Below are Letters to the Editor that have been printed in the Westminster Window.

Monday marked the day that all candidates for City Council had to turn in their petitions to make it on the November ballot. I signed Faith Winter's petition for city council because she came to my door and asked me what issues I thought were important. I was not only impressed that she asked for my opinion, but that has the goal of knocking on 10,000 doors throughout the city before the November election. This proved to me that she is the candidate who will represent the interests of the entire city. Faith believes in bringing people together to focus on solutions and I know she will work hard to represent the needs of me and my family when she is elected. Faith Winter is the best choice for City Council.

My children are the reason I am voting for Faith Winter. After I learned about her ideas for youth programs to give our children the hope and skills they need for the future, I knew she was the leader Westminster needed. I have recently learned that most of our youth crime occurs between 3pm and 7pm. After talking to Faith, I know that her innovative ideas for programs for our kids, coupled with her knowledge of how to include children in positive activities, the number of youth crimes will go down. Faith has a track record of community leadership and knows what it takes to give our children a
future. For the next generation vote for Faith Winter.

When I found out that Faith Winter was running for City Council in Westminster the first thing that crossed my mind was that I was glad that someone who shared my concern for protecting the environment was running for office in my community. I met Faith a few years ago at an environmental function and have since ran into her at several other environmental events. The Open Space in our backyard is why my husband I live and will continue to live in Westminster. I know that Faith will work to maintain, protect, and expand the open space system that we cherish. Faith Winter is a proven leader in the environmental community and that is why she has my vote.

I am supporting Faith Winter for Westminster City Council because I know she will protect the environment. She has a strong track record of supporting renewable energy, public transit, and water quality. I know that a vote for her is a vote for our parks and open spaces, areas that make Westminster a great place to live. I know a vote for Faith means we can raise our children in a community where clean air and clean water are top priorities. As a member of the environmental profession, I know that Faith will work to keep Westminster's environment healthy by using cost-effective measures that positively impact the people who live here. For the future of Westminster and the future of our environment I am supporting Faith Winter.

Faith Winter says she is running for Westminster City Council to bring people together. I know that this is not just a campaign slogan but is really how Faith leads. I have had the privilege of working with Faith the past two years to engage women in democracy. With her leadership she had helped bring women of all backgrounds and beliefs together to strengthen their community involvement. Faith has the passion, the energy and the vision to make the future of Westminster bright. She has integrity that is rare to find and the city of Westminster would be lucky to have her serve on city council.

I have not been in the habit of writing letters to the editor, but I wanted to let people know abut an excellent choice for Westminster City Council.

Faith Winter has spent her career working at non-profits. She knows how to stretch a dollar to get its full worth. She will find new and inventive ways to come up with solutions to improve the services that Westminster residents come to expect.

She understands that city's budget is its value statement. That is why she will continue to promote affordable housing, good paying jobs and environmental sustainability.

Because she knows what we spend money on says a lot about who we are as a city. She will put new ideas into action and that is why I am voting for Faith Winter for Westminster City Council.

I moved to Colorado four years ago for its natural beauty and open spaces and have worked in conservation her to help protect these values. Recently, Westminster won national honors from the National Recreation and Park Association award. This is also why I am choosing to vote for Faith Winter for City Council.

Faith not only has the skills but also the passion of protecting and expanding our parks and open spaces becomes a reality.

She graduated at the top of her class in environmental management and has traveled to Costa Rica to study best management practices and has worked professionally in the environmental field. When Faith sets goals, she achieves them and I know one of her priorities is to support our parks and open spaces. I trust Faith to make sure our parks and open spaces remain a top priority for Westminster and its residents.
