Cedar, an 11-year-old Chesapeake Bay retriever, announced her candidacy for mayor on Thursday at the Jeffco Fairgrounds, near the future site of TableMountainAnimalCenter's new shelter. She wasjoined by supporters, including Jefferson County Commissioners J. Kevin McCasky, Kathy Hartman and Faye Griffin, whose support will help give the canine campaign a leg up.
Cedar4Mayor hopes to raise $25,000 to support TableMountainAnimalCenter's new animal shelter project, Foothills Animal Shelter, slated to open by Fall 2010. TableMountainAnimalCenter is the second largest animal shelter in the Denver-metro area - taking in 10,000 animals each year.
