Give a little kitten love for Nat'l Volunteer Week

It's here with the spring: This week is National Volunteer Week (April 27-May 3), a time to honor those citizens who have committed extra time and energy into making a difference. It is also a time to encourage everyone to consider how they can also make a difference by volunteering their own time to helping others - people and animals alike - who need love and care and a chance at life. Almost Home Adoptions for rescued cats is pleased to offer these opportunities to potential volunteers. We are also pleased to offer recognition and awards above and beyond the rewards volunteers already receive from working with such warm and loving creatures.

As a volunteer-based organization, volunteers are an integral part of running the Almost Home Adoptions shelter. The kitties need us to provide for their basic needs, and we always like to spoil them by creating an inviting and homey atmosphere while they are waiting for their forever homes.

Almost Home Adoptions has a proud history of volunteer service. Our volunteers are working to meet the needs of their neighborhoods and the community. In recognition of these outstanding achievements, Almost Home Adoptions has teamed with hundreds of organizations and businesses across the country to deliver this award to our most outstanding volunteers. As a Certifying Organization of the President's Volunteer Service Award, we can nominate potential recipients and distribute the Award to those who meet or exceed the award criteria. In recognition of these outstanding achievements, Almost Home Adoptions is proud to announce the availability of the President's Volunteer Service Award, a prestigious national honor offered in recognition of volunteer commitment.

Established in 2003, this new Award is given by the President of the United States and honors individuals, families and groups who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service over the course of 12 months.

"Almost Home Adoptions is extremely proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others," said Kathleen Cline, Executive Director of Almost Home Adoptions. "Volunteers strengthen America and inspire others to get involved. We are proud to honor our volunteers who are answering the call with this award."

To be eligible to receive the President's Volunteer Service Award, applicants' service hours must be confirmed by a registered Certifying Organization. For more information, about this and other volunteer opportunities to help our beautiful kitties, stop by Almost Home Adoptions for rescued cats.

We have many opportunities available for those of you who are thinking about volunteering, and making your community a better place. One of the most important opportunities is care and cleaning. Positions include office work, adoptions, kitty care, grooming, newsletter, events, fundraising, media, and more!

We are also looking for loving foster homes to take care of cats and kittens before they are adopted. This time of year there are so many moms and young kittens living wherever they can find shelter.

If you are interested and can provide dependable and loving care for these great kitties, come by and fill out a volunteer application, or call about volunteering or becoming a foster parent. Through your service as a volunteer, you can help make a difference for so many homeless cats and kittens, as well as reaping the warm fuzzy rewards ... and perhaps even a President's Award!

Almost Home Adoptions is a non-profit, cage-free, volunteer, donation-based, no-kill organization that dedicates time to saving endless amounts of homeless cats and kittens. All of these animals have been tested for FeLV/FIV, vaccinated, and most importantly, spayed/neutered to help control this nation's pet population and prevent the senseless euthanization of animals due to lack of shelter space. In addition to adoptive families, we are also looking for volunteers to help out at the shelter and/or foster the young, sick or injured.
