Last Mothers Day my family gathered around me wearing their Rockies t-shirts and presented me with the gift of fun and excitment.
We spent the day with the Rockies, watching them perform their magic on the field while enjoying our Rocky Dogs. We have been fans since the first Rockies game.
I remember when we took our young daughters, Rachel and Adriane, to the games. Now as adults, they are true Rockies fans and we still attend the games as a family.
One of our favorite games to go to is the last home game. Not only do we enjoy the game, but the fireworks are spectacular. We have been to games during the coldest of cold and the hottest of hot weather. The Rockies not only represent Americas greatest past time, but a time to bring families together.
We even took our exchange student to a Rockies game. On her return to Germany her bag was filled with many souvenirs of the Rockies.
You step into Coors Field and your troubles melt away. You feel the excitment of the fans and smell the mingling aromas of the concessions stands. We always arrive early as my husband, Mat enjoys watching the field being prepared for the game. To him that is part of the Rockies experience. We have been fans through thick and thin. Watching our team during the series was great fun for our family. During the day the e-mails would be flying back and forth. The topic, how our dear Rockies were progressing.
Our older daughter Rachel, now lives on her own. But she would still come home to watch the Rockies with her sister Adriane, her Dad and myself. The evenings we would prepare dinner and eat sitting around the TV set.
During some of the games our children would bring home friends. They would join in, cheering on our beloved Rockies. It is interesting watching people discuss the games, knowing that baseball is truly their only common thread. But oh how they enjoy discussing the sport and really getting into it.
Baseball does bring people together. This is why we would appreciate the opportunity to bring together our family and friends. To be able to forget what is going on in the world for a few hours and cheer for our Colorado Rockies.
