Giving Up is Not an Option
Contributed by: Michelle Warner on 7/19/2008

One thing the Colorado Rockies are clearly good at is proving that nothing is impossible. Even when some begin to think there's no hope for them , these guys keep their confidence in themselves high, and prove those disappointing thoughts wrong. For example, on July 4, 2008 the Rockies fell 13-4 early in the game and many began to believe that it was yet another loss to put in the books. However, as it turned out the final score was 18-17; Colorado taking the win. Or you could look at the 2007 season. Most people believed it was just another disappointing year. Then they began to put on a big winning streak late in the season and ended up in the World Series. How can anyone not admire that?
This team has a lot of young, talented players that have bright careers ahead of them. Every one of them has something to give to the team. Whether it's Matt Holliday's great hitting or Aaron Cook's unbelievable pitching, they all have some kind of talent. No matter who or what it is, they never cease to amaze me.That's something I can't help but love about them. The Rockies almost always give fans an exciting game. I love seeing how excited they get after winning games, especially the longer, closer ones. Sometimes, even if it's just a regular season game, they act like they just won the World Series. It really makes you feel good because it proves they are trying and working hard. They seem to believe that giving up is not an option and anything is possible. I feel that with the Colorado Rockies anything truly is possible.
Aaron Cook really stands out to me. He pitches well, he's a good fielder, and he can even hit. In the All Star Game he pitched 3 scorless innings, which is the most by a pitcher in the All Star Game in many years. He was able to pitch out of a bases loaded, no out jam. Any guy that can do that is really worth my time. Another pitcher that I love is Taylor Buchholz. He pitches scoreless innings that either keep the Rockies ahead or give the Rockies more chances to get some runs and win. Both guys keep the game exciting and worth watching.
Some other players I like are Ryan Spilborghs, Garrett Atkins, Troy Tulowitzki, Matt Holliday and Chris Iannetta. They all know how to hit and they do it well. Without guys like them you have to wonder where the team would be. These are the players you can count on to help get RBIs and win games.
I can't always expect the Rockies to win and play good baseball, but no matter what I love seeing the effort they make. I love the excitement and possibilities they bring to the game of baseball. I love how they make the impossible possible. I can't think of any other baseball team I'd rather be rooting for.
