DESPITE TOUGH TIMES AND WEATHER, A COMMUNITY GIVES BACK

The first snow storm of the season closed the district for two days, but that couldn't stop schools in the Standley Lake area from helping those less fortunate at the annual Empty Bowls Project. On Monday, Nov. 2, the open house event raised over $1,600 for the Arvada Food Bank. "No matter how bad the economy, the Standley Lake community always helps support their fellow neighbors by purchasing an empty bowl," said Carolyn Valter, photo and painting teacher at Standley Lake High School.
