Kensington Park is missing its totem poles
Contributed by: Bruce Rhoades on 9/30/2006

The whole Witt area of Countryside is up in arms over the removal of the totem poles from our park.

The city of Westminster removed the totem poles without even discussing the matter with the members of our neighborhood. Parks workers told resident Debbie Kippenhan that the totems were in need of work and that the city did not have the funds for repairs.

The Boy/Cub Scouts hold many meetings at this park and would have done the maintenance on them. Also, many of our neighbors would have donated money and time for upkeep.

The kids of our area have only known this park as Totem Pole Park and I feel that this is a cause worth fighting for. Anyone wishing to help out with this can contact Rick Dahl with the city of Westminster or call Bill Walenczak at 303-430-2400.

Thanks,
Sincerely Bruce Rhoades

If you are upset and want to help, I suggest you donate money. Sure, maintenance and painting may help. I was told that carving is a big issue. If people want the poles back they should dontate money for carving. Just a suggestion. I don't believe in complaining if one doesn't step forward with a tangible solution.
