We've all seen the 'Code Enforcement' Jeeps and Trucks cruising our neighborhoods, looking for the hapless household who may be in violation of one or more local codes. Have a few too many weeds out front? Have a storage shed a little too close to the property line? Have an Off Road Vehicle or a Racecar on a trailer without it being covered with a tarp? You can bet that an agent with the Westminster City Code Enforcement will be on you like 'Ugly on Gorilla'!
But, what's good for the Goose isn't quite good enough for the Gander. I'm refering to all the abandoned construction sites in my area, the worst one being between 96th and 97th avenues on the west side of Federal BLVD. This Albatross has been sitting there, with absolutley no constructive activity for so many years that I can't remember when it first went 'Belly-Up'! This is one of the worst, if not THE worst 'eye-sore', in our City! It's a weed-patch, many of the widows in the houses are broken, many of the houses are unfinished, it appears to be a haven for 'crack-addicts', not to mention a fire-hazard. Thus far all I can see that the City has done is to put up a fence around this site, like a few sections of chain-link is going to make the rest of this atrocity disappear!
Year after year the Westminster City government has just passed the buck from one administration to another. When they are questioned by any news agency the answer is always the same old redundant, "Everything is held up in Court". Held up in court for almost 10 years? Give me a break! That location is an embarrasment to every citizen of this City! Westminster granted the Building Permits for this site and should stand up and take responsiblity NOW and finally get off their duffs and DO SOMETHING ALREADY!
